Facilities
You need to visit the festival’s welcome-center, located in the Community Hall (Narodny Dim), which will operate during July 12-14. Following registration, you will receive: - the detailed schedule of the festival events as well information about participants and the map featuring the festival objects (concert platforms, the eco-trail, the land-art exhibition, camping sites, shops, etc.);
- braid, hand-woven by hutzul women;
- any additional information you might need.
The registration is in operation. This year the fee is 25 UAH ($5) or 50 UAH ($10) if you would like to get a CD with the last year’s festival recordings. (The CD is not produced for sale and can be obtained only at the festival). Possession of the festival braid entitles you to set up your tent in the camp, attend workshops and the cinema. Registration is vital for preservation of the Carpathian Mountains because the proceeds from fee collection go to a special fund, which supports organisation of the festival and development of the hosting village of Sheshory. By making your contribution, you support green tourism, which is the only economic alternative to destruction of the Carpathians today. If local residents do not get money from tourists, they will have to keep deforesting their land and selling timber. Let’s save the Carpathians together! where to stayYou can opt to stay either in your own tent at the campsite or in accommodation provided locally. The cost of accommodation is from 10 UAH ($2) and more, depending on your expectations. It is also possible to stay in Kosiv town (12 km from Sheshory), in a comfortable hostel with all modern conveniences. foodA large number of improvised diners will be in operation during the festival. The campsite will have specially designated sites for fires with a supply of logs. Local hosts can provide you with food (prices start from 30 UAH ($6) and depend on your gastronomic preferences). In addition, there is a restaurant “Arkan” in Sheshory. Its menu features delicious dishes at reasonable prices. However, the service is quite slow due to the large number of customers. communicationsNear the “Arkan” restaurant, there is a long distance pay-phone. If you need to send a telegram, you can avail of the local postal services. Such mobile communications operators as life:), Golden Telecom, Welcome/Mobi and Beeline have no coverage in Sheshory. the list of DON’Ts- Do not cut down trees or shrubs (or steal logs from local residents). If you badly need combustibles, you should rather pick up twigs.
- Do not set up your tent in any place you like. A lovely meadow is more than likely to be somebody’s field, and as hay is nearly the only agricultural product in the region, local residents are very serious about their grass fields. There are strictly designated sites that can be used for camping.
- Do not dispose of your waste in any place you like. After the festival, the hospitable village of Sheshory should be left even cleaner than it was before. It is common knowledge, that those places are clean, where people do not litter.
- Do not go around in the nude near houses and public places – local residents do not approve of such practices.
noteworthyFirstly, you are going to the Carpathians – it can often rain there, and the nights are rather cold. Please, bear this in mind, when doing your packing. Second, you are going to a rural place – this will allow you to rest from the hassle of big cities. However, you may be unlikely to find here the comforts of urban life. What you are guaranteed to get is green mountains, fragrant air, wonderful music, true feelings and the most positive emotions.
