Flowers of Zalipia
Kwiaty Zalipia Poland, 1997, 20 min. Luzina Smolinska, Miechislaw Sroka
In one of villages on the Vistula river the walls of houses are covered with marvellous flowers. “I got a great inspiration and since then I’ve been painting: flowers, bouquets, fire-places, rugs, plates. This is my vocation. If I were a man, I would probably be a priest. But as I am a woman, I’ve become an artist” – says one of the characters. Flowered walls have become a Zalipian tradition, which is being sustained by the fourth generation of painters.
